(…)The award of the public was granted to twenty-one-year-old Pole Joanna Marcinkowska, not only for her elegant performances. She had also won the third prize at the competition, and her rendering of the incredibly difficult “Scarbo” from Gaspard de la nuit by Ravel at the concert of the prize winners proved that good technique and imaginative playing may complement each other. The audience did not want to let the pianist leave the stage.
